So I finally got myself a vehicle after the disappointment I posted last week...

I got myself a VW Golf 6 1.4 tsi 2010 model.

I have two questions regarding the Bluetooth on the car:

1. Is there anyway I can change the Bluetooth ringtone? When the salesman showed me how it worked, he had a ringing tone playing that sounded like a normal telephone ringing.. you know the tringtring sound. But when I had the phone ringing after I bought it, it is more a beeping sound. How do I change this? When playing music via AUX from the phone, the quality is perfect

2. When playing music from my phone, via bluetooth, the audio quality seems pretty bad. It is soft, as if it is only the front speakers playing. When I get a call though, the sound is very clear, loud and quality is excellent. Why is this different when I'm playing music?

Thanking you in advance for any assistance.

With regards to your second point, I am guessing the bluetooth profile being used is HFP - the hands free profile. It is only good for voice audio and not for music.

In order to enjoy high quality music over bluetooth the A2DP (Audio distribution) profile needs to be used and I am not sure if any car bluetooth system out there current supports this.

I noticed with my iPhone it plays the ringtone, my old BB it had the normal ringtone.
Could be handset specific.

The BMW F30 streams to bluetooth with what their enhanced bluetooth option. Not standard, you pay extra for that.

Cool, wondered how long it will take for cars to get A2DP.
Would love it if they could open the file system over BT and play files using the in car system or use the internet connection on the phone for streaming radio.

The VW premium Bluetooth systems support a2dp.

Check the volume on your phone while playing the music via bt, it could be that.

Which audio system do you have?

I have checked the volume on the phone, its on the loudest, as well as the radio.

Don't know the audio system I have, but it is the standard radio. Not the touch screen one

Ok, so after checking the bluetooth settings on my car I see that I do have a2dp. I put it louder and softer, and it did not make a difference. It still sounded the same, whether it was on 63 or 10

I have a Fiesta with bluetooth, when I had my BB Bold, the car would play a default ringtone when receiving a call, with my iPhone, the car uses the phone's ringtone.
Apparently some phones can pass the ringtone on to the system and some can't, if your phone isn't 100% supported then the bluetooth system will use a default ringtone.
