Hi

If I download a BluRay or HD movie to watch on my PC, will it be 100% HD? I have an LCD (Samsung 932GW) and my graphics card (Gigabyte Nvidia 8500GT) has HDMI output.

If it's 1280x720p or 1920x1080p then it's HD. It could be in resolutions between these 2 as well.

What's the native resolution of your LCD?

I think you misunderstood the question (I think I wasn't too clear on it). Will the quality of the image be HD or will it be less due to it being an LCD and not a HDMI TV?

Well, you say it's downloaded so it depends how the content was encoded but generally, it will be be HD. It doesn't matter if you feed it through HDMI, VGA or component or whether the TV is an LCD or Plasma, if you have HD content, you'll see it as it was meant to be seen i.e. in HD.

Hope I interpereted your question correctly this time round.

Ya you did. Thanks:D But then doesn't that mean that your TV doesn't have to be "HD ready"?
HD Ready basically means your TV can accept a 720p input.
Full HD is the same thing, except 1080p.

If your HD content is slightly lower in resolution than your TVs native, scaling is done. Some TVs have the option of 1 to 1 pixel mapping so you can watch the content without scaling or stretching of any kind but you'll have black bars around the video.

I think it just means it doesnt matter how you get it on your HD compatible device... Always thought that AV cables cant carry HD content and it needs to be a special cable?
