Hi

I am looking around for a bluray player for a Samsung 32C550 LCD, hence I do not require a 3D capable bluray player.

Question:
Does price have any influence on quality? e.g I have seen a philips bluray player for around R600 and some as much as R2000.

Thanks

Just get a ps3. That way you can jam some games at the same time.

I am thinking of getting an internal Blu-ray drive for my HTPC. (saw the drive for R699) to be future proof I want it to be able to play 3D movies as well.

So is it a software change, or does the hardware need to be 3D "compatible"

Hardware needs to be capable. Same thing happened with the blu-ray profile 2.0 update.

Which is why I always recommend the PS3. The PS3 only needs software updates as it has the extra power and storage space to spare.

I got the Samsung HT5300, for around R2000 It's the home theatre, it's 1000Watts and it is excellent (especially for my tiny house). It is 3d Compatible. I just plug my USB hard drive in, so far it plays everything. HD (FLV,AVI,MP4,DIVX,XVID).Upscales really well to was impressed when playing some low res youtube videos on it how much better it looks on the tv.
Allshare is pretty cool. Can control the bluray with my android phone while streaming movies from my laptop. It comes with an Ipod dock and FM radio.

Only thing I've not done is play a bluray in it. :D

Once you go Blu-ray there's no going back. Even the 13gig movies in 1080p don't compare to Blu-ray.
