I'm considering a 2003 318ti with over 100 000 mileage going for R90000.00 with Full Service History. I like the perfomance and looks of the car.

I want to know what the servicing costs are like for such a vehicle? Will such a sporty car have been run ragged....would it better to rather go for a similarly priced Korean car with only 30 000 KM on the clock?

R9k for that?...

I'd take it and sell it instantly for a MASSIVE profit...
BUT if you mean R90k... then I'd think twice about it.... apart from the looks of those 3 series compacts which are SHOCKING... they were never v popular in this country, so certain spares might be hard to come by.

For R90k, I'd go with a newer car with less mileage.

Well I love the BMW Ti's. They look good and drive well as well. but because it's over 100 000km there no warranty left and also parts for a BMW is very expensive. But if you if can afford this go for it. The next car I want to get might be the BMW 3.25Ti :D

Look good? what narcotic are you guys smoking?.. they look like an abortion.

Spare's won't be hard to come by it's a e46 bmw underneath that body. The nice thing about the 318ti it's slightly lighter than the 318i so it's a little bit quicker and if you don't need 4 seat's all the time it's great.
Why would you want to buy a korean car in the first place.

certain spares might be difficult to come across since some of the spares are specfic to that car...

Lets see... for R90k he can have a 5yr old german car... or a 1 or 2 yr old korean car that probably looks a million times better than the 5yr old german abortion.... its almost a no brainer if you ask me.

Ofcourse it's a no brainer the koreans build the best cars, and i wasn't just talking about the BMW there are better cars for R90k than the korean's.Let's see a honda or a kia, mmmm i have alway's wanted a spectra in white, forget the civic or the corolla.
It's because of idiot's that buy korean krap we now have Chana's,GWM and all the rest of the S#$# that is coming into this country, people would rather say i have a new car(TATA) than say i have a 140i 4yr old corolla, which after been in both and worked on tata's that are a few yr's old i DO NOT understand why they would pay for such krap with there own hard earnd money, before u say anything i know tata is indian.

How exactly do you equate Hyundais and Kia's which are decent cars for the money to crap like Chana and GWM? ... thats a bit daft if you ask me...

Yes 10 years ago, Korean cars were crap.. they are not anymore...

all korean's are krap,a corolla or opel will last longer than kia,i will agree that a NEW elantra's feel good inside, but let's see when it's done some hard km's.

Tell that to the 6yr old elantra sitting in my garage that has done damn nearly 300000kms and is still going strong.

I base my opinion on experience when it comes to Korean cars... I used to hate them, then one of the okes I live with bought one.. i ragged him about it... his elantra has given him less problems than my old VW did.....

All korean cars are NOT crap anymore... they're pretty decent.. and actually up there with the japanese cars for reliability nearly...

Its a mismatch of parts, thats what it is. The compact handled the worst out of the range because it had rear suspension carry over parts from the E30 3 series (Pre dolphin shape) bmw's, which equals modern looking car with crap handling cause of rear suspension carried over from the 80's

Ahhhh someone else who sees the light..

Although dissing the E30 could get you into some trouble with me...

I'm still on the lookout for a good nick 333 E30...

I'd rather spend R60k-R70k on an E36 Motorsport or Individual and save the difference for maintenance.

I had an E30 320i but sold it (It sucked as much juice as Paris Hilton that sucks C..ks ) Got an opel for now.

I had a 316 body with an E36 318ms motor shoe horned into it.. I miss that car.. sucked juice like a nothing else.. but fsck me it would go like nothing else...

Although my merc now would probably thrash it six ways from sunday
