Does anyone know of a good place in and around Joburg to service a BMW? Someone who can also reset the "service warning" message on the on-board computer? BMW want around R4500 for a major service!

for a major service that is not bad.

I really think people dont understand what a major service is.

R4500 for major service not bad. If you are driving E90 model , you can reset it by yourself.

I do understand what a major service is :p

Just a bit of a shock. My last car was a Ford Fiesta ST and a major service would be under R1000 directly with ford. I know the parts particularly in a Diesel BMW are a lot more expensive, but 4.5x the price is more than I thought it would be. I was expecting around R2500 - R3000.

I'd much rather have BMW service it than anyone else, I just want to explore my options.

R1000 for Ford Fiesta ST major service? Dude do you have the invoice?

How much was oil? did they charge you for labour or it was just parts? What i know is Fiesta ST uses chain belt not cambelt. So how much did they charge you to replace it?

dude wtf, a standard service on a fiesta ST should be like R2k

R4500 isn't bad :)
The Merc ran down R12k after some parts (due to age) had to be replaced (battery, alternator, can't remember what else) :)

The service itself will be around R1500-R2000. The rest will be parts and labour for said parts.

I used to pay around R2500 on a corsa utility for a major service, R1000 on a BMW :wtf:

So where are you going to take the car for a service? Surely the person who is going to do the service other than BMW should be able to reset unless they don't know what they doing.

I paid close to R2000 for a major service on a Suzuki Swift. R4500 for a BMW (and a diesel) doesn't seem bad.

Maybe I was just lucky, but I sold it last year and had a major service on it just before I sold it. Ford always took care of me :D I do still have the invoice, but I'm not going to go digging through all of my receipts.

That's not what I said.

Anyway, thanks guys. I'll just take it to BMW directly and let them do what they need to do.
