Need some information on E90
How does the discounts on brand new 3 series work?
Dealer is offering R45k discount, how can I get more?
Do I have to take on the road fees?

Does anyone know the diff between 320i start and 320i

The 320i start is a seriously stripped down version of the 320i it does not even have leather seats. Look at the price list you will see what is stripped out.

the start is the bare minimum, good enough to drive but terrible to look at. :-D go for the normal or individual with a m package, sunroof and xenons.

Look at colour of door handles for quick way to distinguish. Start has black ones.

You might be able to ask them for a discount. The 45k deal is your trade in discount right? Try and squeeze them for more. As I understand (though I don't know too much) dealers are very eager to get rid of stock before the new year begins, so they may just be willing to help you out there.

There's no trade in vehicle on the deal. I was expecting the dealer to give more discount.
I also think the benz is more value.

The start is a very basic stripped down version of the 3 series. You don't get climate control, only basic AC, smaller rims, and just about all of your options cannot be fitted. You also don't get cruise control, auto lights and wipers, as well as a lower end sound system...

Personally, I would save up a while to buy the standard version at least (only about R15k more) or the Exclusive, which is awesome.

I don't understand how people can shell out around R350k for a 320i.

If you want a donkey, buy a donkey. Fit it with a leather saddle and you'll have a 320i.

? And you drive?

Previously, Polo 2.0 (which wasn't the quickest, but at least it didn't cost R350k). Recently, A3 2.0T. What I drive is not a prerequisite to having an opinion.

My point is that the 320i in no way justifies its price tag. Cars costing less, or around the same, are not only quicker, but come with the same standard features as it does.

I agree. I just don't think you can call a BMW 320i a donkey with leather. I think its a great car. I am currently in the market for a 320d, but I will not be forking out 350k+, I'll be getting something a few years old.

A 320d is by no means a donkey mate, it's rather nimble :)

At the same time, paying over 350k for the competing Audi A4 is also very expensive. Those are the prices they go for here.

A3's are quite attractive cars. But then again, you can't compare BMW and Audi driving is much more fun on BMW ... I feel like am driving a toy when i jump to an A3/A4 from my 320i ...

I'm not sure hey, I guess it's a personal preference. I'm really not that fond of the driving position in most BMWs, although I'm sure that some would disagree. And the more recent models don't seem to focus on the driver as much as previous models did (what happened to the angled dash that pointed toward the driver?). Personally I think that the 3 series peaked with the E36 models. The E46, while not as good as the E36, was still decent but then it started going downhill.
