Hi All, Just wondering if anyone else has the same issue. i have a 2002 BMW 320I (2.2 S6)Steptronic with about 201 000km on the clock. Never missed a service and all work carried out by BMW Clearwater. Always run 95 octane in it. The service interval on it is 25 000Km but I normally service it when it reaches around 12 000KM. Use Castrol GTX oil filter from BMW (oil) and a K and N pan filter. I have notice it has a miss once in a while took it to BMW Clearwater where they did all their test and it came back all clear. My after sales consultant did highlight to me that they noticed it on the test drive but can not figure out what is causing it. It does not do it often but I notice it did it once yesterday and once this afternoon on my way home from work. I live about 7 km from work and there is like moderate traffic in the morning and a clear run in the afternoon. Has anyone else with this kind of car or engine noticed anything like this? I am very particular about my car if it does anything strange in terms of a jerk or strange sound so this is bugging me alot.

A cheap fix is to run some engine cleaner in with your next tank of fuel, often this solves the problem with the occasional misfire and/or jerking. I run octane booster in every second tank to keep the engine clean.

Next step would be spark plugs and coil packs. Hopefully it is only one of these, making it a relatively cheap fix.

The octane booster and engine cleaner? It's nothing but good news for the car. Octane booster is great for the car as fuel burns more efficiently which results in less gunk coming out the other side. I've run both in my BMW without a single issue, I also know several other drivers who have done the same and have nothing but good things to say.
