BMW M4 Edition M Heritage

The special edition of the BMW M4 Coupe, which forms the basis of the BMW M4 DTM deployed by BMW M Motorsport, fascinates with an exclusive exterior and interior look reflecting the impressive tradition of the high-performance racing cars. The BMW M4 Edition ///M Heritage, powered by a 331 kW/450 hp straight six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology will be produced and sold worldwide between November 2019 and April 2020 as an edition model limited to 750 units.

Light blue, dark blue and red - these are the colours by which motorsport fans immediately recognize the BMW M GmbH logo. Immediately after the founding of the BMW Motorsport GmbH in 1972, the characteristic colours already adorned these racing cars, which were based on the BMW 3.0 CSL and became highly successful in touring car racing. Since then, the distinctive stripes in the three classic BMW M GmbH colours have stood for exhilarating performance and exclusive design also on the road. The BMW M4 Edition ///M Heritage takes up this unmistakable colour combination on unique exterior and interior design features. There is a choice of the three body colours Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue metallic and Imola Red available for the edition model. Furthermore, the two-seater's carbon-fibre reinforced plastic roof boasts a striking decorative strip in the BMW M colours, which is integrated into the CFRP composite at the factory using a special manufacturing process. Likewise unique are the forged, 20-inch M light alloy wheels in a star spoke design featuring the colour Orbit Grey matt and fitted with mixed tyres.

The interior of the edition model is also characterised by an exclusive selection of colours and materials. The spectrum of equipment includes model-specific full leather M seats in a bicolour design and with prominent openings within the area of the seatbacks. Each seat colour is oriented towards the exterior paint and is complemented by partly bicoloured contrast stitching. In conjunction with the exterior colours Laguna Seca Blue and Velvet Blue metallic, the seats come in Silverstone/Black with turquoise stitching or Velvet Blue and Orange respectively. With the exterior finish Imola Red, the seat colours Red and Black correspond with yellow and red contrast stitching.

75 UK-bound cars will see bespoke M-Sport inspired colours as a limited-run special, but 444bhp straight-six is unchanged

BMW has revealed the M4 Edition M Heritage as a limited-run tribute to its decades of motorsport history.

Limited to 750 units, the new M4 Edition M Heritage is based on the existing M4 Coupe and runs a standard twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine with 444bhp and 550Nm of torque.

BMW says the new celebratory model will be sold in all existing BMW markets up to April 2020 in the choice of three exterior colours chosen to resemble those of BMW Motorsport’s familiar tri-colour logo: Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue metallic and Imola red.

Further distinguishing features of the M4 Edition M Heritage include a decorative strip in the colours of BMW M. It is integrated into the limited edition model’s carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof.Also new are forged 20-in alloys wheels in matt grey.

BMW M4 Edition M Heritage revealed ... and 10 units confirmed for SA!

BMW has revealed the M4 Edition M Heritage, with 10 units of the special-edition two-door model confirmed for South Africa.

Conceived to celebrate the Munich-based firm’s storied racing history, the special edition of the outgoing M4 coupé boasts “exclusive” exterior and interior touches that BMW says reflect the “impressive tradition” of its high-performance racing cars.

The worldwide production run will be limited to 750 units, produced and sold between November 2019 and April 2020. Just ten of those are destined for local roads.

The familiar colour combination of the BMW M performance division – light blue, dark blue and red – is featured throughout. There’s a choice of three body colours (Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue metallic and Imola Red), while the carbon-fibre reinforced-plastic roof incorporates a decorative strip in the M colours, integrated into the composite at the factory.

Model-specific forged 20-inch M light alloy wheels in a star-spoke design and finished in Orbit Grey matte (and, of course, fitted with mixed tyres) are also included.

This New M4 Knows its Heritage

BMW is celebrating all things M-Division with a new, limited-edition, M4.

This collector’s version fo the M4 features a very interesting roof design, with BMW’s technical people having integrated the M-Division’s colours into the carbon-fibre roof surfacing.

Viewed from above, or a high-aspect side angle, you’ll notice the signature BMW racing stripes, in light and dark blue, with red, which have been embedded into the roof’s carbon-fibre.

Beyond its trick roof colour contrasting, the M4 Heritage edition rolls star-spoke design alloy wheels, 20-inches in diameter.

Inside you’ll have the option on three different contrasting hues for BMW’s bicolour M-specification seats, whilst red and yellow contrast stitching keep the cabin’s leather trim together.

As with all limited-edition models, BMW is keen to remind its M4 Heritage customers exactly which number they own. To serve this purpose, and increase the future value of these latest M4s, you’ll find a Heritage number badge on the dashboard’s passenger side carbon surfacing and door sills.

BMW has also added ‘Heritage’ lettering to the front headrests.

BMW M4 salutes its heritage with new special edition

The current generation BMW M4 is getting one last hurrah with the release of the Edition M Heritage that you see here, and if you want one you’d better hurry as just 10 have been allocated to South Africa.

Inspired by the brand’s DTM saloon car racing exploits, the M4 Edition M Heritage will make its world debut at the next DTM weekend, which takes place from 13 to 15 September.

The new edition is based on the M4 Competition, and shares its 3-litre six-cylinder turbopetrol engine, tuned to 331kW and 550Nm - and which should get you from 0-100km/h in four seconds flat, according to claims.

What sets the Edition M Heritage apart is a number of unique exterior and interior garnishes that salute the car’s M Performance legacy.

Fittingly it’s only offered in the three colours inspired by the BMW M GmbH logo with its light blue, dark blue and red hues. In the edition's case, this means a choice of Laguna Seca Blue, Velvet Blue metallic and Imola Red exterior paint colours. Designers also thought of adding a decorative strip on the carbon-fibre reinforced plastic roof, featuring the M colours.

Back in September 2019, BMW revealed the M4 Edition M Heritage, confirming 10 of the 750 planned units were destined for South Africa. Now we can finally share pricing for this special model.

The M4 Edition M Heritage model starts at R1 645 462, which makes it R149 000 more expensive than the M4 Competition on which it’s based.
