BMW M3 Track Day

Hey all, I'm looking to do a day at Zwartkops racetrack with an M3, but I'm not sure what my options are.

There is the BMW Driving Experience High Performance Package, but I'm not sure how that will work out in terms of value for money. By the sounds of things you don't really get to pull that many laps (source).

Does anyone know what other options there are to do this? How about renting a car specifically for the track and hitting a public track day?

Also does anyone know the status of Kyalami since it was bought by Porsche? I'm not sure if they're currently open for any sort of business (organised or public).

Zwartkops is better.

Take your own car to the weekday "open day" But there is no instruction.

How is the track traffic on an open day? Also I sadly don't have the privilege of owning a track-ready car - is it feasible to rent one for the day?

depends on the day. Sometimes minimal

Most bring regular road cars. Saw a hyundai on there once

I reckon you need to see why you want to do the track day.
If it is to drive fast in a car then the high perf one will be the best but if you need and educated experience for every day then th defensive driving might be a better idea

It's to drive fast in a fast car in a controlled environment. I've done the defensive driving with BMW and it was very professional

Silver - what makes Zwartkops better? Is it the track itself or the management?

The facilities are way better. Track is better for newbies.

Easy parking. Actual working workshops(in the event you have an issue). Neat and well maintained toilets and cafe. Good place to sit out of the sun. Easy to walk around. Family friendly atmosphere. Well run open day and proper enforcement.

There are a few high performance schools at zwartkops. They lend you a car during the course. It is called high speed driving course and someone has a trackday course aswell.


Kyalami is a high speed circuit and you can get into problems easily especially if you are a newbie.
