Hi All

as you know I just bought a 335i which has satnav - I was trying to find clearwater mall which I could not find??

How do I tell what version of satnav I have? & what is the latest version?

Thanks

if you eject the DVD nav it should say on the actual DVD which year/month it is for ... (i think) ... phone your BMW dealer and they will let you know what the latest version is which you can purchase (and its not cheap)

EDIT: i think the last is March 09 ... could be very mistaken

The satnav is updated annually, and available from your dealer. They should have given you a DVD (after they installed it in on your onboard computer)...check the dvd for the version you have installed. I have 08-2; meaning 2008 ver 2 digital roadmap.

Try searching for clearwater mall using POI->category->pub,places,business->shopping facilities...or better get a garmin:p

you actually bought the 3 series (shakes head) lol no just playing...congrats, and big ups for NOT going the 320i route!!!

Don't use the satnav...follow ALL OTHER BMW 320i's to Clearwater!!!

Weren't you driving too fast and missed the mall? Congrads on the ride.

What year model is your 335i?

The updated maps are normally a year behind meaning a navigation DVD with "08-2" will have 2007 maps, street names and POI updates.

With the Nav software on the 335i, you can also search POI by name.

category->pub,places,business->shopping facilities then use the search POI and type CLEA.

I have a 2009 Model - with 08-2 maps :( Don't want to spend R2100 for new maps thats silly SatNav is R20K option one would think maps would be free!!

Don't want to use my Garmin but if I have to I will!!

20k option...eish, but did they not make sure the stuff works and is up to date? You have the right to demand an up to date version, you're still a brand new customer...just do the evil look!

09 you have the facelift with the hdd ... I thought the nav is loaded on the hdd? ... How does it work with the new idrive and hdd systems?

Not sure mine has the DVD & yes it is Facedlifted - the Nav system is the business edition not the pro version. there are to many options can't they make is simple!!!

& if it has a hard drive I have MP3's that need to be loaded on it!!! my Ipod just is not big enough!!!

Does anyone on these forums have the new Nav DVD?

thanks

I bought mine in Aug 09, so its prob the latest.

Screw the SatNav, tell us more about the 335

Unfortunately my 2008 335i also came with DVD 08-2. I think the new one was only released in July 2009. I've used some software called Pimp-My-Nav which I can use to update the DVD by importing POI from garmin. It needs a little bit of fiddling but I managed to import speed traps and 2010 World Cup venues as a test. LOL

From what I've observed, the facelift 3 Series models with business Nav retain the same interface as the pre-facelift but the iDrive controller has new buttons. The new iDrive software only comes in Professional Nav.

I must say it's a really nice car - I use to have a 328I way back in the day & really was not thinking it was going to be that great - I am happy to say it's more then I expected! it's drives well like a normal BM but goes like hell one you put your foot down!!

Good "Family" Get up & go Car

Facelifted - then you have the sedan?

You should have about 15G of onboard storage capacity, simply plug your mem stick in the usb slot located in the glovebox, go to CD -> options and upload the mp3's

Sorry dont have the latest satnav DVD, 08-2 version only

Thanks Kompete I will try that :) - I have an Ipod I want to upload hi def audio - the external drive I bought does not work not enough power from the USB port :(

I dont think that these DVD's can be copied - specific to the disk, or am I wrong??
