Hi folks,

Was thinking of ordering some individually addressable LED strings from BTF Lighting as I want to delight the family with new Christmas lights for the tree this year using WLED, but came across these. From the videos they are individually addressable which is a huge plus! They come with the controller, etc which makes it easier to get going especially as I plan to leave these at the family beach house in KZN to be used every year so simplicity is key. As such, the controller will remain unflashed for that purpose.

But I also plan to buy a set for home, so that is when I'd want to tinker. Right, has anybody got these and what are your thoughts? Do you know which type of LED strip / string is being used? Considering that it requires 5v, I assume these contain WS2812B Neopixel LEDs? It is probably a given that this is a Tuya controller so hopefully it contains an ESP8266 for flashing WLED on it - else I'd have to connect my own ESP8266 to it. running WLED.

I might just pull the trigger and buy the 5m strip and play with it, but always good to hear first hand experiences.

So I got the 5m BNETA strip and I've gotta say that I am very impressed! My original plan was to install SK6812 LED strips around the top of my braai thatch area, but found the mounting aluminum channels rather challenging in the aesthetics department. So, going to switch to using these instead. They are much easier to install and I think are going to look much better from a lighting perspective. My dig-quad is burning a hole in my desk as we speak. lol.

They are super bright, they are WS2812B, IP65 and yes, they will work with WLED. I am going to need a couple of 10m strips and at R699 for the 10m strip, I'm rather going to look at Aliexpress as I see they have the 10m for $12.

This project has suddenly raised the bar.
 
These are ideal for those cloud ceiling displays everyone is building..
 
Hi folks, so I imported 5x 10m WS2812B fairy lights from Aliexpress and yesterday I strung 20m of these lights around my thatch and my goodness, with WLED on my Dig-quad as well as LedFX driving the sound-to-light - our braai area is never going to be the same again. Still got 2 sets to string up and another set along my veranda. I still need to take care of making the controller and PSU more permanent in an enclosure and doing power injection.

Is there anybody else doing any cool individually addressable LED projects?
 
so is there a cheaper option in SA? to buy locally? that looks as good? as the BNETA fairly lights ?
