Hi there.

Am having a slight nightmare with a new build and would be grateful for any opinions in case I'm missing something obvious... The hardware relevant to my issue is as follows:

Board: Intel DZ68DB
CPU: Intel i7-2700K
PSU: Antec VP650P 650W
RAM: Kingston Hyper-X Blu 4GB DDR3-1333 CL9 1.5v 240pin [Part No. KHX1333C9D3B1/4G]

After seating the motherboard (correctly; i.e. all nine spacers and screws used; I/O shield inserted), I installed the CPU, together with the stock intel heatsink/fan. I then inserted two of the RAM modules in the correct slots (as per the boards' documentation) and connected up the case's fromt panels (power, reset, etc.)

When powering up, I get nothing on my monitor. There are no beeps from the board's speaker and the CPU fan is working. Trying the RAM modules in different configurations, slots, etc. makes no difference.

I don't have any reason to suspect that any of the components are faulty and some research is leading me to firmly believe that the RAM modules are not compatible with the board. The relevant links are:

Kingston's specs for the RAM modules I've got:
http://www.kingston.com/datasheets/KHX1333C9D3B1_4G.pdf

Intel support page detailing compatible RAM:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dz68db/sb/CS-032375.htm

I then found this (Kingston's list of compatible modules):
http://www.kingston.com/en/memory/search/Default.aspx?DeviceType=7&Mfr=INT&Line=DZ68DB&Model=71888

The ones I've bought are not listed...

So, is it fair enough to assume that the RAM I've got is wrong and won't work at al with this board? If that's the case, I presume that my only real option is to replace them with officially listed/upported modules...

Cheers

Remove the RAM and turn it on. Usually the mobo will beep about that.

Those RAM modules are fine.
I had a DOA motherboard and my POST (now indicated with LEDs on my Asus mobo) stopped at my Gfx. After swapping out all my components we realised it was the mobo.

Test them on another mobo if you can and try figure out which component isn't working.

Yup: tried that and got three beeps repeated every few seconds (which is, according the board's tech documentation, exactly what I should get when it doesn't detect any RAM modules.)

I unfortunately don't have access to another board which iss DDR3 compliant. Might take it into work tomorrow and see if my mates in IT support can take a look. I would have thought that the RAM modules would be compliant but have come across a small number of forums on the WWW which suggest otherwise.

UPDATE: it's working now. I ripped everything out of the case and started over, triple-checking every element as I went along. Reseated the CPU, replugged all the essential components, etc. The RAM - and board - now work fine! Am a very happy camper.

froot & bometrics: many thanks for weighing in; appreciate your time!

Glad it's working. Sometimes it's a random thing, sometimes it's just not seated 100% or a speck of dust could be blocking something and reseating it solves the problem.
