Bodi suspended, charged with match-fixing - CSA [Update]

Best of luck to the players (both current and ex) involved in this. I hope your savings accounts are well stocked as no one will touch you with a 10 foot barge pole now.
 
Report this morning said others are in trouble for failing to report this, they apparently refused offers but didn't report it.

Amir for me is slightly different. Yes, he is guilty, but his circumstances made him incredibly vulnerable. Young. Impressionable. He's done his time and all he was expected to do to rehabilitate. Mixed emotions for me.

It seems that there are players who get an offer or become aware of this and do not report it. The so-called "don't want to drop my mate" factor.

Unless there is incredibly good reason why they do not report it, they should feel the ire of the law. How else will it be rooted out of the game if all players, support staff and management take a zero tolerance to this. I say if they did not report it and knew about it, they should incur serious consequences including bans and/or stiff fines!

Brendon didn't report it when the rules didn't require him to. Regulations have changed since that.
 
Bodi suspended, charged with match-fixing - CSA

Cape Town - Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that former Proteas, Dolphins, Titans and Lions cricketer, Gulam Bodi, is the intermediary who has been charged under its Anti-Corruption Code.

Bodi has been charged with contriving to fix, or otherwise improperly influence aspects of the 2015 Ram Slam T20.

“Following our investigations and due process, we have reached a point where we can confirm that Mr Bodi is the intermediary who was charged by CSA in early December 2015 under the CSA Anti-Corruption Code,” said CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.

“Mr Bodi is presently co-operating with the CSA Anti-Corruption officials. We now await his response to the charges and the matter will take its course in accordance with the process outlined in the Code.”

Pending receipt of his response, Bodi has been provisionally suspended under Article 4.7.1 of the Code.

The provisional suspension means that Bodi may not be involved in any capacity in any match or any other kind of function, event or activity (other than authorised anti-corruption education or rehabilitation programmes) that is authorised, organised, sanctioned, recognised or supported in any way by CSA, the ICC, a National Cricket Federation or any member of a National Cricket Federation.

SOUTH African T20 specialist Gulam Bodi has launched an incredible attack on Jonathan Trott for his decision to leave the Ashes tour due to a stress-related condition.

Trott stunned the cricketing world by announcing he will fly home from Australia, following hot on the heels of being dismissed twice in similar fashion by pace bowler Mitchell Johnson.

The England No.3 came in for immense criticism from commentators on both sides for his perceived weakness to Johnson's short-pitched barrage, but his decision to leave the tour has been followed by an outpouring of support on social media.

The one exception appears to be Bodi, who sent this tweet out just minutes after England held a press conference announcing the decision.

"Hahaha, joke of the day! Trott to go home frm the ashes due to stress illness! Bloody man up n take the heat! Stop running for cover". The tweet has since been deleted.

Bodi, 34, was born in India but moved to South Africa as a teenager.

He came close to playing for the Proteas on several occasions before settling into a life as a Twenty20 specialist.

He has played for South African Pro20 side the Highveldt Lions, as well as Indian Premier League side Delhi Daredevils.

Bodi is the tip of the iceberg. He couldn't have done this alone. If he fully co-operates, he may get some sort of dispensation in punishment. Plenty more to come on this. So epically sad for the game.
 
More info on today's pretoria news on what he did. He approached 4 protea players (not in the current national squads) and 4 local players. The approaches happended in parking lots at wanderers,hotels and an adult entertainment club in joburg. Offer was R800 000 and bodi would take R150 000. The players had to insure less the 9 runs was scored in overs 9 & 10. He also setup meetings with indian gentlemen who would provide untraceable SIM and cellphones.

Other players names not mentioned for now due to legal reasons.
 
Life suspension, stripped of all titles, honours etc and criminally charged, need to take a tough stance.
