Mine is off the chart lately. I can't touch anything or anyone without a spark.

SO is starting to complain and even my staff at work are keeping their distance.

Tried googling for solutions but so far nothing.

Ideas?

Either rubber soles or no rubber soles (can't remember which)
Use fabric conditioner
Remove all carpets in your house

Did you change your fabric softner?

I had a same problem and turned out it was some cheap ass fabric softner the wife used. Went back to staysoft and all fine now. Also, coukld be that you wearing wool socks now because of winter as opposed to nylon socks in the summer?

Been using the same softener for years and nothing else has changed in terms of clothing or shoes etc.

@Wall. So far I am only aware of it affecting me. Everyone else seems normal.

But yeah bloody annoying as hell.

Clothing must have changed, as it is now winter. What materials are you wearing? I sometimes found that some of my work jerseys would create some serious static on me. The fact that the winter air is dryer than summer will also play a role.

Drier air allows for more static buildup

I usually walk around the office with a large metal paper clip and touch the door handles with it 1st to discharge the static. When I jump out of the car I keep 1 hand on the door frame and don't get zapped anymore. But I still have no remedy for human to human zapping.

I have already ruled out clothing.

Maybe start keeping a bowl of water around me to moisten the air.

I have the same issue I figured out a few years ago that I formed a habit to touch my car door with my elbow first to discharge before closing the door after I get out. I also make a pretty good blue spark at night when switching on the light or touching the tap etc.
I thought of installing a earthing rod but I was not sure I would like where it would go.

I use that Nivea in-shower moisturiser.

'Sprobably not enough.

I suffered from this every Winter, too. I still hesitate to touch metal door handles.

This Winter, I'm using extra moisture in the form of a heavy body cream after the shower.
It seems to be working, so far.
