Got my new Bold 9780 on Monday and I'm loving every minute of it.
This is my first bb and I'm wonderig why I took so long.
Just some queries I have :
- if I tap the back of the phone (between the camera and flash, I hear a 'rattle' like something is loose. Only happens there, everywhere else is solid. I first noticed it when I placed it down on a table and heard the rattle. It sounds like somethings loose under the lock button on top.
- MTN activated the BIS yesterday. I charged the phone fully last night. Now, at 21h00 its at 20%. Before BIS was activated the first charge lasted 2 full days. How can I make the battery last longer? My useage is light, mostly in the browser about an hour today.

I would really like some replies to the rattle noise under the lock key before I take it back to MTN for a out-of-box-failure replacement.

Being a new bb user I have many more questions but I just wanna make sure I don't jave to return this unit first.

Thanks

Tapped mines there, it makes a little rattling noise, but not worry imo... just weird. If i press down from the top and then tap there it doesnt make any noise.

Thanks, so mines is not a defective unit. The only thing I can think of is that its the actual lock ket that makes a noise (cos its a key, not solid), as u say, al little weird :)

Battery will drain faster with BIS, its an always on internet connection, the internet runs 24/7. Without BIS there is almost no internet to use.
Switching from g&2G mode to just 2G, or if your in an area with enough coverage, just 3G will increase battery life by 40%-60%, the biggest drain on the phone is the auto mode as its constantly checking for the fastest possible connection and that scanning drains your battery like nobodies business.

Ya, switched to 2G only, there is no option for only 3G in the settings.

That's really strange, have it on my curve 9300

I think that it may be network dependant as well, are u on VC or MTN or CC? I just checked now & its def '2G' or 2G+3G' only, no option for '3G' only. It does not matter, i will leave it on 2G only & see what improvement it makes.
