Ok, so I got a Bold 9700 about 5 months ago, and I love the phone. I didn't go for the Torch then, due to some bad reviews at the time.

I can upgrade again, but need to make a call between the Torch and the 9780. I feel like something different, hence the possibility of the Torch, but I don't want it if it is going to give me crap.

What is the latest on the Torch? Worth getting, or should I just go for the 9780?

Ta

I have a good friend who had the torch, loved it for a week then started to hate its motherboard and everything about it. Same with my uncle and about 5 other friends. The first friend has the 9780 and as far as I know he is enjoying it(only had it for about 2 weeks). I think OS6 takes a bit of getting used to though. I would stay away from the Torch but try and find a 9780 to play around with for a bit and see if you enjoy it, the 9700 is one of the best BB's out there so it is going to take something big to beat it imho.

I am running OS 6 on my 9700, so luckily I am used to it already, and the difference between the 9700 and 9780 is marginal, I want the extra storage space though :)

I have got the torch since December and is the best BB i have owned only thing is getting used to the keyboard bold is much better on that but the bold can't beat the torch's big screen

Not sure I want to risk it just for a bigger screen

Well I can't complain about my Torch but if I'm waiting for the Dakota before I change again. I will admit though the Torch keyboard is too small. I miss my Bold 9000 keyboard!

My advice would be to stay with the Bold series (the 9780 is a solid mature product with lots of pedigree behind it that started with the 9000 (which I still use despite having an iPhone 4)). If you're in an adventurous mood (Bold = boring) then rather go for iPhone/Android.

LandyMan, a Bold + iPhone combination works well for me. Best of both worlds. I use my iPhone for data/apps only. Bold will always remain primary communications device due to its strengths in that dept, but it is very nice to have the apps power of the iPhone. Android can be used in place of an iPhone if you so desire.

Yeah, it is solid, looking at my 9700, and I won't do the iPhone thing again :)

I have an iPad for the apps power of the iPhone, if they can just sort out the damn Exchange syncing issues :)

I find the torch unbelievably frustrating, slow and buggy. Way prefer my old bold 9000 which was stable. I'd skip the torch if I had to do it again.

I said the same thing last year and it seems most didn't believe me, right now using a 9700 with OS5 and it's feels faster than the Torch.

I also had a 9700 which I loved to bits. I bought my Torch in the USA during November and have had no issues (I am running OS6 version 450 ,it does help to get the updates from crackberry.com, as MTN etc are slow in releasing them and the original software (246) was slow and buggy). I love the big touchscreen (something I have avoided in the past), but it took me about two days to adjust to the keyboard and the different feel of the phone. The touch screen makes a huge difference when browsing and I occasionally use it to type with. My sister has a 9300 running OS6 and I find myself touching the screen to select icons, so I think this would bother me in the 9780 as well. It depends on which form suits you the best: my friend hates sliders, while I have no problem with them. It would be wrong to say that the one BB is better than the other: variety is the spice of life after all! In the end, I don't think I would go back to my 9700 and I wouldn't exchange my Torch for the 9780. I hope you enjoy the new phone, whichever one you decide to go with!

PS: I can't wait for the Blackberry Dakota to be released, I think the combination of a touchscreen and the Bold 9000 keyboard will be unbeatable!
