Yes. Sunspots and the sun has some cycle for when it becomes more active.

But I don't think anyone has linked that to our weather/climate.

That paper doesn't prove anything. Correlation is not causation.

Edit: Only in the presence of a verifiable physical mechanism. Otherwise its just hand-waving.

The cosmic ray climate theories of Henrik Svensmark have been widely critised.

Edit: Meaning you can't use them to disprove a competing theory.

Edit: That's an ad-hominem attack on me. I read that paper months ago. Polar wandering has nothing to do with geomagnetic reversal, nor climate change.

Edit: The Nature article was published in 2017. Hardly breaking news...

1. Take a deep breath, wait 24 hours.
2. If any credible mainstream media take up this story, we can resume this discussion.

The only way that would work would be if the taxes went straight into building nuclear power stations, thus reducing the price of electricity so much that it becomes unprofitable to run coal stations.

To be fair, most of climate science barely manages to get the correlation part correct. If they could, the weather would be fairly easy to predict.

I was not advocating it.
It is already a thing.

Global warming is not a new/recent thing - its something that's been happening for ages.
Someone theorised that the (atmospheric) CO2 levels had something to do with.
Although this theory has never been (scientifically) proven, it is widely accepted as a (scientifically proven) fact.

Enter Carbon Tax/es - money that is "needed" to "save" our planet.
The "CO2 emissions is killing our planet" thing is a hoax - CO2 emissions is not the reason for global warming.
We are being played.
Someone is making money.

If the taxes were ringfenced to build nuclear power stations, I wouldn't really have a problem with them as that is switching to a genuinely clean and cheap technology.

Or just ring-fenced to clean up any pollution, reforestation, conservation of natural areas. I would be as happy as anyone can be about a tax.
