Hi Guys,

We've written an app and would like the tech minded to try it out and find issues. Here is a brief intro:

Ever had a caller ask you for your email address or physical address over the phone? Do you then reply with each letter of the email address? bongGong is a mobile messaging communicator app that solves that problem.

With bongGong important information like email addresses, locations or numbers that would normally be difficult to communicate verbally over your cellphone can be communicated correctly through bongGong. With the bongGong app you pre-program your details you would like transmitted immediately after each call, similar to a business card. But a bongGong is much more powerful, especially when incorporating the GPS location function!

After each call ends a screen pops up where you choose what information to send to the caller. These pieces of infomation are contained in groups; the email address, GPS address, land line number or arbitrary text such as gate colour. The GPS function allows the receiver to get driving directions straight to your premises on their device. Thanks to the advancements of cellphone technology, when the caller gets your SMS and taps on the GPS text their phone will automatically load it and prepare it for them to use. The co-ordinates are also given should they wish to enter it into their standalone GPS device such as Garmin or TomTom

Features:
• Highly secure login mechanism with SMS validation process.
• Setting up of multiple Infomation Groups.
• Setup Wizard assistance.
• SMS communication at cheaper rates.
• Easy to use interface.
• GPS locator function

bongGong was developed with one purpose in mind, making it easier for you to communicate important information to callers immediately and accurately instead of verbally with errors.

bongGong is FREE to install and comes with 200 Bongi's(Credits) to use. You can install it only on Android based smart phones by going to the play store and searching for bongGong. bongGong can only communicate with other cellphones, not landlines, as it transmits an SMS :) Our Iphone app is in the pipeline!!

Please visit our website for more intricate info and screenshots of our app in action - www.bonggong.com

Mods, if this was the wrong place to showcase this please have mercy and put it in the right place.

Regards,
Peon

This is one of the main concerns I had going into the project, is data safety. I wont say much to decrease the attack surface but this is something we nailed down with a 100 pound crane hammer before starting. If we were to discuss it, you are only sharing info with the person that you want to.

But please, lets discuss it and maybe come across another angle to this.

Looks interesting, but I see this irritating most people. If it pops up after ever calls, what about the spam calls I get from telemarketers, now after all that rubbish I still need to close an app that opened up thinking I wanted to send them my email too.
My mother, friends and family, who call the most. The people who have all that info already.

While it sounds like a good idea, for the many it could end up being a royal pain in the arse.

CranialBlaze: If you checked the screenshots there is an option to send bongGongs manually and not have the screen pop up after each call.

EDIT: And an ignore function, so people you know well wont get a pop up screen either if you add them to the ignore list.

Maybe you should let us know about your hardware/servers and what security you have put in place? :)
