Are the final prices shown on booking.com pps or the price for total number of guests you've selected for that room? Because it doesn't show anywhere and the price doesn't seem to change when I select between 1 and 2 guests.

Usually per apartment/unit booked. I suppose it may be possible for the owner to add a surcharge for additional guest/s but if the price is not changing when you change the number of guests then it must be per apartment/unit.

That makes sense. Maybe the hotel business isn't doing so well for them to charge a flat rate for rooms.

I believe it is per room. IIRC, the price only changes per person if there is something like breakfast included.
Oh, let me try that out.
Update: Ones with breakfast included to have prices changes according to the number of guests. And even others that don't include free breakfast have price changes but it's mostly the pricey ones.

Ive used Booking.com a couple of times and every time the price I pay is it. No hidden costs etc.

They’re charging you for the gowns and slippers. :p

Yep used booking.com on a number of occasions.

If you book a room, with no extras (such as breakfast etc) the price will stay the same for the amount of people the room can accommodate.

If you add on breakfast or other things then it will slightly increase per person who is staying.

I have not paid any "hidden costs" when booking. Agoda on the other hand sometimes seems to be cheaper than booking.com and hotel.com but afterwards I always usually get hit with a (fee for foreign purchase from the bank) which usually makes it more expensive then anyway so stopped using them

There is more than one way to skin a cat. Bed configurations will also play a role although the rate will appear flat.

Thanks. Now I fully get it.

BTW, one issue I encountered with booking.com, is that on a few occasions (well, two - and then I stopped using them), they showed room pictures and room names/types that didn’t match with the hotel. So the hotel had no idea what room I had actually booked and somehow end up giving me something much crappier.

I recommend matching the names with the hotel’s site. Eg, If you book a “club suite”, make sure they’ve got a club suite and that the pictures show the same room type.

There are many shortcomings in the system. And they are so slow to address these - yet still booking.com remain miles ahead of their closest competitors. For example: Guests would always call us to complain that it says 'room' reservation. 'We thought we had booked an apartment'. Something like that should have been easy to pull from their database (room/apartment/suite/etc) but it took them around 14 months to address it.

And then what you are mentioning is also an issue where photographs are often general but unit offers are specific.

I've used Booking.com a few times without issue. The price changes on how many people you book for, and is usually per room/apartment/whatever you book.

But I usually using Booking.com as a reference point, and then go to the establishment's website directly where possible, the price is often better than on Booking.com and/or includes perks for booking directly.

I used them about 2 weeks ago. No hidden costs but the room was supposed to be on the first floor. They gave me one on the 7th because I arrived early. They had pictures of the pent house, which I thought was a bit misleading. They were also supposed to send me an invoice for cleaning but nothing has come yet.
