Hi All

I'm currently having a problem with exchange 2003. I'm trying to setup a booking resource for the Boardroom. The boardroom email address has been setup and everything seems to work except that any user can delete another users booking.

So when there is already a meeting in place and I send a meeting request I get the response that a meeting has already been booked. Now all I have to do as a user is to look at the meeting on the boardroom's shared calender and delete it.

I've give the users Author permissions on the specific calendar which should be correct.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Edit: Apologies for the spelling mistake in the thread title:)

Can't you change them to "Reviewer"?

The problem is they need to have the author permissions because that enables them to create a booking and also to be able to delete their own booking. I just can't seem to understand why they can delete any booking.

No. Or I don't understand...

You create a meeting request on your outlook and add the boardroom as a resource.
The booking is added automatically on the calendar of the boardroom, so they don't need to do anything on there...

Ok thanks let me give that a try.

OK, for a resource, you need to do the following when logged in to the resource mailbox:
- Tools, Options, Delegates, and set one or more users as delegates. They'll be able to edit appointments, delete, etc. etc.
- Tools, Options, Calendar Options, Resource Scheduling, and set it to automatically accept meetings and decline conflicts.
- Tools, Options, Calendar Options, Resource Scheduling, Set Permissions, and set "Default" to Author permissions.

Thanks Claymore will give this a try.

If it works I'll score some nice brownie points as the previous administrator struggled months with it and the company really needs to get it working.

:)

Cool. :)

It's basically the standard procedure from Microsoft. There is a complete article on the MS KB that gives it with all the steps. :)

I've tried this but the problem I'm still getting is that any random user can just delete a meeting on the boardroom calendar. How do I change it so a user can only delete a meeting that they've scheduled?

Make sure they only have author permissions. With author, they can delete their own. With editor, they can delete anyone's.
