Books has arrived on Google play. For those that like reading. Personally I have been using Kindle but it would be nice to try out Books

As someone with lots of books and academic papers on my hard drive I find their upload feature really neat. I can upload my books and papers to their cloud then I can access them from anywhere from other devices using the Books app. I can see myself getting a Nexus 7 now.

^ This, bar the Nexus 7, already have me Android devices.

So the Books app, can be used as an e-reader?

EDIT: To clarify, what I meant was if it could be used with books loaded onto the device outside of the Play Store? Looking at the app, it seems so.

Well basically yes.

I loaded my books into the cloud via the Play store, using Chrome, then the Books app can be used on any device to read em, it even stores progress so you can continue on your tablet what you started on Phone or even PC.

The Google and Kindle reading apps are very similar, I am using the Google one.
