Looking for one of these in SA without the crazy markup - https://boostedboards.com/

I see some different brands available in SA. Does anyone have any experience and can recommend something as an alternative ?

TIA

I've been looking around as well but no luck. I can't fathom spending R18K on a skateboard no matter what motor is in it.

I've had an electric skateboard for about a year now here in Shanghai. - Benchwheel
Small review here - http://www.computersolutions.cn/blog/2015/09/benchwheel-electric-skateboard-review/
Replaced the battery already one time (about 10 months in).

Use it daily for to/from work +- 3km + some weekend trips of about 10km.

Great fun.

The "new" trend in Shanghai is scooters though. Almost same as a skateboard, but with a handle.
I would bring one back, but shipping lithium devices is a pain..
Guy at the office has a carbon fibre one that looks great, costs less than my board, and weighs less, but has more battery.

My skateboard cost 2799rmb last year, this year I'm tempted to upgrade to something with internal wheel motors as they roll faster - eg Stary or similar (the Stary is local, but a bit $$, there is a competitor Meibacc with dual motors and more battery for less)
I'll wait till mine breaks though.

Some taobao links so you can check whats current in .cn land

Lofty Ambition (apparently have a < 100Whr version for flying so I may look into that)

Made in Love (3.5kg, although smaller battery)

Meibacc GT6 (dual motor, carbon fibre)

Suggest read http://endless-sphere.com for details on boards.

I'm headed back to CT in 2 weeks. Can't bring on the plane, as Hoverboards effectively ****ed everyone, and all personal vehicles are banned on most airlines.

Have asked Aramex for shipping prices. Otherwise maybe can add to a container when I ship something else other.
I really want a electric skateboard .za side, as its proved very nice to use in .cn

Did a bit of checking with my shipping agents here in Shanghai, easier than I thought to ship, as only a test report required (货物运输条件鉴定书), vs full MSDS report. Example document here - http://www.ghs.cn/upload/FCKeditor/2009-09/24102125.pdf

The test report is required for regional in-china shipping so pretty much all the factories will have it.
If they don't its quite cheap to do anyway internally myself only - RMB500 odd.

Shipping on the other hand is a bit pricey. Would need to sell a board for about RMB12k-15k or so.

If you are interested, can ship additional boards in with mine.

Ouch! Is that maybe a typo? RMB 12k when the board is RMB 2799 on taobao? I'm definitely interested if the price is reasonable. There is a local company who builds decent boards for R14k but that is out of my budget. I was guessing around R6000 (RMB 2800) plus around R2k shipping and then a bit extra for you.

RMB 2799 in China.
Shipping is RMB1800 + some assorted other fee's. (close to R9600 odd already 2799+1800x2.1) + some probable costs for shipping documents (not added)
Taxes 14% .za side + other BS fee's added, so looking closer to 12k landed. 15k is fairly reasonable to be honest..

More volume = lower shipping, but in small qty's is quite high.

If I could order say 10 units could get the price down to closer to the 9k -10k, or closer to 12k wholesale.

Unfortunately the rand is ****, and clearance charges in .ZA are fairly outrageous, so it is what it is...

RMB or ZAR?

You're being ripped off if RMB. There is a surcharge for dangerous goods when flying lithum batteries, but it should not be that high! I import and retail various electronics with lithium batteries and my surcharge when bringing in a few hundred camera lithium batteries (fedex if needed in a rush) isn't so bad.

What assorted fees? I can't figure that out. I import stuff weekly from China so I'm not sure what I'm missing?
