Boosting WiFi through a slab

Yes, 2.5. No idea why my head halved that. I have not set the 5GHz side up even, so everything is on 2.4.

Phones seem to be OK upstairs, my Mi box worked OK, but both my and my wife's dell laptops as well as my work laptop struggle with signal up there. I bought a whole setup last year black Friday to make a home office up in the corner of my room and I can't use it at all due to this so its something I really want to fix. Anyways, I'll report back on the power line setup after I get it next week. Ordered from Takealot.

I'm sure you mean 2.4Ghz lol.

fwiw, Ubiquiti AC Lite user here..... life changing.

run a cable outside and back in, connect another AP.

Strangely, I get perfect reception upstairs, but just around the corner, there's a total dead spot.
 
My house is about 300sqm, double story. I have a UBIQUITY AC lite in the study (in the middle of the ground floor). The initial plan was to get a second AC lite if necessary, but i get good reception both upstairs and downstairs. It was therefore not necessary to get a second ap.

You can use the management software's mapping interface to draw all the different walls/windows etc with materials it's made of and get a rough guide to proper placement/why there's dead-zones
 
So my TP Link power line adapters arrived and are working like a bomb. Finally have amazing WiFi up in my office. Working from home today testing it out and it has been flawless.

Setup was very fast too. Really impressed overall.

I actually spent some time on Monday sorting my EOP out a bit better, I retract my statement that they work fine through power strips, they work ok through power strips.

I had to replace a couple of wall sockets, including one in my study where my router is.

I replaced the one in my study with one that has the new style socket and an old style socket on it. I then plugged the EOP adaptor that goes to my router directly into the socket.

I then removed the power strip behind my tv with a pc and replaced it with a short extension cord I made (about 30cm in length) and plugged the 2n'd eop adaptor directly into the cord.

Finally I moved cables around in our main tv room and plugged the eop directly into the extension cord there as well.

My speeds are much, much faster (as per the tp link application).

Took a screenshot before doing all this if anyone wants a before and after :)
 
Mine is in a short extension chord and works OK. I will try plug it directly into the wall and see if that improves it at all just to be sure.
