Boot loop on samsung Galaxy Y

Friend has a Galaxy Y that has started looping on load screen - tried to go into recovery consol and it looped there too....

Any ideas?
 
Yeah not sure how it was done - its running some software called odin - a friend of hers loaded a custom rom about a month or so ago, phones are not really my area of expertise.

Think it'll have to be flashed with stock image with Odin.

Check xda forums.
Or perhaps someone more in the loop will come along and assist ;)
 
Thanks Shake&Bake except how do I work on the phone when it switches off and on every 5 seconds even in "download mode" bah humbug.

Night shifts ;)

Recovery's not needed.
You'll need to get into Download mode.

From there you'll try flashing the stock firmware.

Everything should be in that xda link hopefully.
 
Yeah got to Download mode last night - 3 seconds in there and it reboots itself - maybe its a hardware issue?
 
If you do the following does it still bootloop even from download mode?

Pull Battery
Connect via USB to PC
Power up phone
Enter Download Mode
 
I'll try that - so you can power up through USB without battery - learn something new every day. I'll try - I did hook up through USB yesterday (but with battery in) - got into download mode - and looped.

Will update when I know
