Hi
I sent my computer in for repairs at one of the major distributors. I have 3 hard drives (1 Windows drive and 2 files drives). I sent it in with only the Windows drive.
When I received my computer back I got a message that the computer is infected with the boot.malmo virus, but by the time I realised this, I already plugged in my 2 files drives, which obviously became infected.
I done a bootrec /fixmbr, which removed the boot virus from my boot drive, but how do I get rid of the virus on my other 2 files drives?
Right now I done a Remote Desktop to home and backuped up my 1st Files drive (my 2nd Files drive is unplugged) and deleted the entire partition - it said it's in use but I deleted it anyway (probably in use by the virus, which is in memory). Then Symantec AntiVirus came up that the virus tried to write to the drive again, but was partially cleaned. I have not formatted the drive again, so it's a clean drive without any partitions/volumes.
When I get home I'm going to unplug the machine for an hour so that the memory clears and boot again and format the drive and then restore my files - hope I don't run into any more problems.
Does anyone else have suggestions or experience with this virus?
