Boot up problem's

My brains are officially fried! I recently upgraded and decided to do a fresh install on two hard drives(2tb-win 7 ssd-win8.1)and 1 other hdd with no OS just for storage. So I installed win 8.1 first on the ssd and then win 7 on the 2tb.Then the problems started firstly the ssd doesn't pick up when connected to sata3 and secondly it doesn't give me the option to choose which OS to use on start up.

So I decided to play around in bios and I think I broke something :what:. I played with the boot mode(uefi and legacy+uefi) and then I played some more with the Sata mode(ahci and ide). Now both OS's don't want to work? I'm going to reinstall again but what would be the correct Sata mode and boot mode to select?
 
You should be able to reset the BIOS settings to default. Try that and see if you're back to square one.
 
I tried that and it's saying the boot file is corrupt. Both win 7 and 8 say's the same thing.
 
If you don't have anything important on those drives, I suggest you leave you BIOS settings at default then format your drives, then install 7 first, then 8 second.
 
You will want AHCI and Legacy+UEFI boot set

If you do manage to get the Win7 to boot up again, boot from the Win 8.1 install media and do a startup repair
 
Will it make a difference if I install win 8.1 on the ssd and then 7 on the 2tb?Also note that when I'm installing I remove all other drives.
 
You need to have all the drives present when installing either version.

You will also need to install 7 first then 8.1
 
Ok will try this way first (win 8 then win 7) since I already started.
 
Any idea why it wouldn't give me a chance to select which windows to boot on start up?

The issue with that is when you install windows 7, it will install Windows 7's bootloader. Windows 7's bootloader will not be able to detect a windows 8 installation, due to the fact that it is older and W8 is newer. What you could do, when finished, is run the Windows 8 repair tool, which will install the Windows 8 Bootloader. Once that is installed - use a tool such as EasyBSD to add the Windows 7 Installation to your Windows 8 Bootloader. http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/

Won't that problem be removed by installing win 8 first? Like a backwards compatible type of thing.

No, as when installing Windows 7, W7 will overwrite windows 8's bootloader :D Its kind of like the other way around
 
Thanks guys all of the input helped!I installed win 8 first on the ssd and win 7 of the 2tb(disconnected each one when installing).Then used easyBCD to add win 8 to the boot menu.Works perfectly only have to remove that stupid MSI winki thing and find why the ssd is not getting picked up when connected via sata 3.
