booting from a flash drive??????

can any one help from booting from a flashstick ?
i currently am trying to install xp on a laptop that does not boot up the laptops dvd rom and floppy disk drive do not work when it boots up..it asks what operating system i should use...both xp bt the mouse cursor goes comes on and the screen is just black..

plz help it would be greatly appreciated:confused:
 
I installed Windows 7 from a flash disk, I can help you with that. Apparently XP is much harder.
 
unforntunatly i dnt hav windows7.....i would need all the help i could get for installing xp thou
 
Before you do that check if there is OS recovery built into the BIOS.
 
i have checked the bios (phoenix bios setup utility) but i dnt seem to find any OS recovery built into the BIO...i have done some research on booting from a flash and apparently you have to download an hp utilty tool format the flash with the utility then download a tool that helps you boot from the bios i think it he PE...builder andthen configure that tool with the bootfiles and whatever other programs you want on it which seems extremely complicated but apparently this is the only way....is there not another way?:confused::confused:
 
how old iss the machine? does it support booting from memory stick, does the memory stick support being booted from? Do you have coca cola in your fridge and whats you favorite sandwhich?..........You guys need to give more detail when posting these questions..especially regarding the sandwhiches
 
its an hpomnibook xt6200 nt sure how old it is about more than 5 years old thou....i have a sahara 4gig stick and apparently it does support booting from a flash.
 
i will test the website looks like mission impossible but i accept soldier :cool:will let you know how i get...thanx guy
