I recently finished paying for my sentech modem. This is one of the old one's as I am one of the few people who manage to stay the full 2 year term. In the last two weeks the modem keeps on losing it's signal. Several calls to the helpline allowed me to establish that the modem software is out of date.

I am picking up signals in Sandton although I am based in Roodepoort. No amount of trying to upgrade the software has been met with success. Now I am told that the modem is old and the boot loader can't be upgraded.

Am I the one that ended holding the short end of the stick again ?

Firstly the Bootloader has nothing to do with loading the software.
What version you got atm ?
If its 5.whatever then you should be ok, even 4.2.1.8 is still ok.
You loosing connection or not being able to connect is not a software problem.
The modem I'm currently using here at work still has the original 4.2.1.1 software in it and I dont have any problems whatsoever.
