Sign up with GoogleAdvice needed: Bought my first amp...need 5.1 sub + speakers
I got a Pioneer VSX-819H-K amp yesterday only to get home and find out that I need an active sub (currently have a passive) and that my current speakers are 3 Ohm and not the recommend 6-12 Ohm of the amp. Clearly I didn't do my homework so I'm a bit bummed
I can run the current speakers without a sub but somehow the audio is lacking. It's as if the full sound output is being 'held back'...I can't explain it better.
Needless to say I'm dissapointed and have been calling around this morning to get a 5.1 speaker kit with an active sub.
I don't want to break the bank with this exercise as I've just laid out R17k for the LCD, AMP and (wifies compulsive buy) home entertain player/speaker kit. Also my lounge area is relatively small.
As I don't have the right knowledge in the audio area I'd like to find out from those that do if any of the following are ok or alternatively if you could suggest other kits/brands that I could look at.
Options so far:
a)
Audio vision - quoted me R1500 for the Sony SS-FCR 6500 5.1 kit which does not include a sub.
b)
Audio vision - R6999 for AR900's. This includes a sub. I'll admit though that the price is a bit high and more than I'm actually wanting to spend.
I'd really appreciate any input.
