So I'm trying to help someone who's TV got damaged by the recent rain in CT.

Item wanted (be very descriptive): A CRT TV
Is packaging essential?: No
Desired age and condition: Even if it's 50 years old, as long as the kids can watch something
Location: Cape Town Northern Suburbs
Willing to accept a shipped item: No

So, if anybody has an old CRT TV around the CT Northern Suburbs, and they're willing to let it go, please let me know. I will arrange for collection. Unfortunately I'm unemployed so can't pay, but will gladly give oral pleasure if the donor so chooses

Free

Just put in a modern day TV? Why does it need to be CRT?

That will not only be harder to find but also more expensive.

It's not for me. It's for a friend of mine who lives in a squatter camp. It's much easier to steal a 32" plasma/LED/LCD than a CRT TV

I'd figured that a lot of people upgraded to flat panels, so probably have a CRT sitting somewhere. I had one, but gave it away ages ago.

many years ago after my Wife's mothersTV was stolen for the fourth time. She replaced it with a Rear-projection television, when they were still the stuff of envy, when asked aren't you worried its going to get stolen again she said, no I bought the biggest heaviest tv I could find so the burglars could't take.

Does your friend in the squatter camp have free electricity? Those big CRT's use a ton of electricity

This SONY CRT TV may fit the bill - it only has a mass of 91 kg (201 lb), so is NOT easily transportable to a pawn shop... ;)

I had one like that some years ago. It cracked my Indonesian cabinet. My gardener is still using it.

He had his previous tv stolen, now wants a heavy CRT that is more difficult to steal
Had a Panasonic 73cm TV... When we got rid of it they needed 4 strapping lads to move it onto their bakkie
