Has anyone of you forumytes tried this product:Boxee Box by D-Link?
We get it - you want Internet freedom on your TV, but you want it to be the stuff you actually want to watch in HD and you want to enjoy it from the comfort of your couch. We're all over it-introducing the Boxee Box by D-Link: click, follow, watch - you are now in full command of your TV for the first time. No rules, no contracts.

Any good for SA? Apple TV a better option?
Any opinions on this product would be appreciated..

Well, IMHO I'd say build your own Media Centre PC rather, but I must admit these pre-made jobs can be quite nice, looks wise.
I'd prefer one of the Xtreamer devices (think Scoop sells them), simply cos they use XBMC rather than Boxee. And XBMC is the best Media Centre software. In fact, Boxee's a fork of Xbmc if I'm not mistaken (I think).
Why don't you try them out? It's the software that's gonna make the experience anyway. Download the latest Boxee and XBMC, stick them on a laptop, plug into your TV / Media centre and see which one you like better. (Go for the Beta version of XBMC 11, it rocks! Full release coming soon)

I've had mine for almost a year I think.

Great media player, looks very good but it's not perfect.

Anything specific you wanna know about it?

Apple tv is definitly a better option, but the best route is a Micro server running XBMC.

thanks for the input, will try Boxee and XBMC on a micro server before I make the step of purchasing the Dlink option
