I don't know what to make of Wladimir in terms of where he ranks with the champions of the past as the heavyweight division is a shell of what it once was.
You cannot denounce the Ukranians dominance.
Comparingly, they have held those belts for a very competitive time.
One cannot but seriously question the career stats of both the Klitschko brothers.
Yes they have been dominant and yes they have done the job put in front of them. But, and it's a huge but, the state of the Heavyweight division since the end of the heyday of Tyson/Holyfield/Lewis has been abysmal. It's been without question the weakest era in Heavyweight Boxing History. No doubt about that.
Wladimir can pad his resume all he wants but the fact that he's fighting this level of competition has to affect his standing amongst the Heavyweight greats of the sport.
It's not his fault of course it's just the way things are.
So are you saying that there is an abundance of weak opponents ?
I think the Klitschkos should get a bit more credit than that.
It's exactly what I'm saying. And you'd be hard pressed to name any half decent ones out of the lot. Look at the so called Heavyweight rankings and tell me with a straight face how many names there you can recognize.
In any other era chances are they would have been found out. And I'd say even in an "average" type generation with the likes of Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tubbs, Bonecrusher Smith, Tim Witherspoon, etc, etc, the Klitschkos would have had their hands full.
What our own Corrie Sanders did to one of them would have been more the norm than the exception.
Hehe yeah, that was a big upset. Too bad his older brother ****ed Corrie up the following year.
