'Hypothetical' situation: ;)

Boy likes Girl
Boy and Girl are friends
Boy and Girl go to movies etc. fairly regularly
Boy thinks Girl only thinks of him as friend BUT
is not sure and is too much of a Cowardly Lion to ask/say his feelings

Should boy

a) continue to do stuff with girl knowing he probably won't find a potion of 'courage'
b) distance himself from girl as much as he can, because not being around her is a better option than feeling like crap

Thanks guys this is for a 'research project'

Get drunk, make a move.
If she does not like you in that way, just blame it on the booze.

Alcohol is never really the answer....but it's a sure fire way to get to it.

+1

1) Share a popcorn
2) In the middle of the movie say you need to go get more salt
3) Quickly go into the bathroom and cut a hole in the bottom of the popcorn, insert ****
4) when she accidentally touches it look into her eyes and bounce your eyebrows. She'll know whats up.

:D BWHAHAHAHA!

Ok, I'm assuming this girl is single. Here's some classic advice someone gave me: "You're either her boyfriend or her girlfriend." If you are too afraid to go balls to the wall and make some kind of move, ask yourself these questions:

1) Does she always make time for you, even cancelling or changing her plans to suit you?
2) Does she laugh whenever you make a joke (even if it's a horrible joke)?
3) When together, is there ever any kind of "casual/accidental" physical contact? Usually if a girl is too shy to say anything flat out she'll try to hint with subtle physical touches. For e.g. At a braai this weekend, in a small room with a couple of people. Someone needs to squeeze past one of the girls so she moves closer to me, (close enough that our bodies are touching), and she just stays there after the person has gone past.

If you can say yes to these three things then just ask her out formally.

Tell her "if we weren't such great friends I'd probably make a move on you"

...or just lean in and kiss her. You either end up hitched or ruin the friendzone.

Thanks,

A few more things

1) Boy doesn't want to use alcohol
2) Boy is terrified of rejection
3) Girl is not shy at all
4) Basically for now until the foreseeable future the 2 options are a) and b) because of aforementioned factors

Well much like everything else in life unless Boy steps up and ask's girl out he will eventually become friend-zoned.
He should think of it this way: Is she that awesome that you can risk your friendship to become something more? If yes, do it now.

Else try the popcorn trick..Think I'll try that out eventually sometime :D
