I haven't been to Newlands in a while, my friends and I used to go to Groote Schuur high school to braai before the game. I heard a rumour that you're not allowed to braai there any more? Is this true? If so, are there any other spots you guys know of that we can go to?

I live by the stadium. Cops dont allow any braaing/car bars anywhere near it. I think this is mainly cause people are doing it on peoples verges etc. Dont know about the schools/fenced off areas.

As a side note to some people who may read this and are going. If a car guard tells you its fine to park infront of driveways please dont cry if:
A) fined
B) towed
C) tire let down
D) My personal favourite seen - window smashed, handbrake down car pushed into the road(yes there is some crazy eyed folk in rondebosch, newlands)

I guys i see your post here i just want to make sure if i can still go braai at groote schuur high school or if you know of other schools that allow thats near the rugby stadium.

I have seen people braai at the nearby schools all the time. The other parking place they braai at is next to where the deaf school used to be, which is next to the bridge opposite PnP. The parking area is still run by the deaf school on rugby days although there are some illegal car guards that are chancers and acting like they're deaf.

The last time I went to rugby, we all got notes at the Groote Schuur school saying "No open fires". Then there was a policeman driving around and taking photo's of people who had braai's going. Gas braai's are fine though.
