Sorry for sounding so pesimistic but..

The whole reason of an MMO's existence is progression, yeah we may get nostalgic about pre-tbc WoW, I sure do, but the only way is forward. And if people are stuck on vanilla WoW then they won't experience karahazan, sun well plateau, and naxxramas etc. Sorry to burst your bubble, but people have requested vanilla servers only and Blizzard have said no. I don't see why people would join a guild like this and not progress further. Ye sure the new players to WoW will never have raided BC/BWL, but times change, and we need to adapt.

Yeah I see your point and it is perfectly well argued.
Except that the majority of us have already seen all the content.

Pre-Bc I raided into naxx40 man.
BC I raided into Sunwell
WOTLK cleared everything so far.

Hit 80, geared up, done it all, bought a new account without any expansions on and started the guild. Alot of my friends followed suit and there is actually a strong drive for this kind of thing.

Theres a guild on Lightbringer EU (Awesome) that raids old content weekly

Yeah well there are actually quite a few guilds around that do this to be honest. HoY, SotP, Ruina, etc, etc etc.

I only started WoW in May last year, so I missed out on the lvl 60 raids and only managed to get to see Zul Aman before Wotlk hit.

Last night a few of us with our lvl80s hit Onyxia's lair and then headed for Black Wing Lair. We thought it would be a walk in the park, but 15 of us wiped twice on Nefarious. It was rather embarrassing, but we had an absolute ball and it was amazing to see the "original" hardcore content.

After that we went to Zul'Gurrub, which was also quite a treat!

Doing these as a proper 40man lvl60 raid must've been nothing short of epic.

organising 40 man raids was equally epic, which is why so few got as far as Naxx.

Good luck with your guild. Focusing on pre-tbc content is not something I would do, but go for it. I know there are alot of people who would enjoy it.

Just want to add, we managed to knock out first 5 bosses in ZG, with an unannounced, unplanned and no use of ventrillo raid =)

Heya, so here's the scoop.
Thursday we all sitting around, minding our own business - mostly pvping with each other and what not. When as usual I get the most random idea for us to give old Zul'Gurub a try, totally unannounced and outnumbered.

So three of us talk it over, and decide that even if we don't get far, it would be a good idea to at least give a few of the bosses a try to try and get back into the raiding mode for ZG.

So we plan to hit the raid at 6pm server time (in about 3 hours time) and sort of grab and unsuspecting guild member that happens to login on the way.

So 6pm arrives and we start sending out raid invites; our group makeup is 1 Holy priest, 1 Arms warrior, 1 Prot paladin, 1 Prot warrior, 1 Resto druid and 1 not-sure-what-spec rogue.
2 minutes later, urgent message that our main tank (the Prot warrior) needs to leave us for an emergancy. We were all pretty bummed but we decided to carry on.

Anyways we did alot better than we expected, half the raid hadn't been here before, we did not even have Ventrilo or Teamspeak or bother with ingame voice chat (who uses that anyways?).

However we still managed to down High Priest Venoxis, High Priest Jeklik, High Priest Mar'li, Bloodlord Mandokir and High Priest Thekal before we called the raid.

The best part about it was that we 1 shotted every single boss, with only 1 wipe the entire evening.

On our third our Ret paladin had to leave us, but as fate had it, our Warlock logged on just in time and we continued from there.

Anyways here are some screenies to prove it :)

Anyways for the rest of the post, and the screenies you can check out our forums: http://apathy-gaming.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=112

Thats actually a little sad :(

I remember running ZG a lot back in the day and it was a challenging instance, more challenging then MC imo, at least until the raid has sufficient gear. I'm guessing that none of the old content will be much of a challenge then.

Well yes it may have been alot easier than back in the way but it was still an awesome challenge. I was the main tank...the only tank. That is pretty difficult keeping everything on you when its meant to have 2-3 tanks. Its easy in the way of that we do more dps, more hp, heal for more than back then. But now we have to make up for our lack of numbers with pure skill. Gear can only get you so far. So instead of having 5-6 healers, we have 2 healers and we need to make sure that we don't scatter our selves out of range which is really hard at times.

It thoroughly is an enjoyable challenge.
