I wanted to post some news about burning of foreigner's shops again, but figured it is such a comman accurance that one general thread for protesting, looting, blocking roads and so forth, would probably be a good idea.

Avoid Turffontein, Hay st, Turf Club st, they have closed these roads, burning fires across the roads, you can't get through at all.

Guys please avoid by all means Angelo route towards Germiston. The locals are fighting with the Nigerian & foreign nationals. Avoid the area

31 people arrested following Malvern, Jeppestown violence

Several shops in Malvern and Jeppestown were ransacked and set alight by a mob on Sunday night.

Police have arrested more people in connection with the violence in Malvern, bringing the total to 31.

It was not yet clear what sparked the overnight unrest but police were still on the scene trying to restore calm.

I've seen somewhere they are only charging the looters with public violence. This seems like a serious charge but they will likely just get a warning and be set free.
I would have preferred they charge them with breaking and entering and theft. That at least has a possibility of some jail time.

Robben island and I'm sure we can pack in a few more in the other jails. That shouldn't be a reason not to give these criminals a jail sentence.

Please avoid the Newtown and Fordsburg areas as protestors are allegedly coming down market street Jeppe and Bree street.. Not sure what the new names are..

I might be in a spot of bother. I travel through Fordsburg, Mayfair and Booysens to get to and from work.

My dad works in Benrose, they've started looting there as well. They've had to shut the gates to their business park.

My brother just told me they've blocked off access to Denver. One of his colleagues was witness to mob justice/act of mob violence. Orcs are out.

David Tembe of Jo'burg Metro is advising alternative routes to bypass Hillbrow after the shooting of a member of public. Streets are being barricaded.

Take caution if you use the M2, vehicles were being burnt at Maritzburg Street just off the M2.

Law enforcement not up to the task? Expect more incidents of shop-owners defending themselves and of course this will make things worse if a Somalian shop owner kills an orc.
