Brandy lovers thread

I find brandy and coke also too sweet, so I opt for it with Coke Zero/Light or Pepsi MAX/Light. Like many others, I will buy a cheap brandy like Wellington and mix it up in a beer glass with plenty of ice.

If I feel like having a stick up my arse, I will sip on a splash of KWV Imoya whilst nibbling some chocolate.

Excellent taste bru, I do the exact same.

Which cellar was that at? I'm going there next Saturday for the Keeromberg MTB ride so I might as well do some brandy shopping :)

I battled to find out any information on it. My bad, I meant Robertson :o

Found it in that wine shop near the McGregor turn off. Trying to think of the name :erm:

Can I be your friend please :D

My second favourite brandy to use in a "mix" is Viceroy (made by Van Ryns).

Adds to list :)

Also found a limited release brandy in Worcester a while back called "Mimosa". Was decent.

Where in Worcester, I'm living here and don't know it.

Nope, you vreet sloot :) So do I and it is even better after a couple of brandy's.

The problem with me is that I cannot really drink any hard liquor and enjoy it. Perhaps because I overdid it in my youth :o

Walked past Spar Tops and saw they have KWV 10 year on special for R150 a bottle, if it was not for Dualmeister I guess I would have kept on walking...

Is it a crime to use ginger beer as a mixer :P ?

I'd say its a flippin good idea. Gonna get me some tomorrow and give it a try ;)

I have tried brandy with lots of things including most juices (nice), Sparleta cream sode (bad) and Lemon twist (passable).

Because of the sweetness thing, a friend of mine has his brandy with a small drop of coke and then tops up the glass with soda water.

I generally don't do mixers in my spirits unless it's a bit of ice in my whisky, so I had a large shot of stiff Bertrams V.O. earlier tonight and I can't believe how blerrie nice it was. It was almost like a caramel and vanilla ice cream and was really smooth for a cheap effort. There was a bit left in the cupboard that my wife uses for baking etc and I really only tried it because of this thread. Glad I did though, I'll seek a bottle out and have a second opinion over the weekend :)

Well Stoney does make a epic mixer :D

I have a few strange brandy's to.

Check this one :p

That's from Tulbagh Cellar right? I saw it a few months ago when I was there for the "christmas in winter" MTB race.
If you are ever in the area be sure to go check out Drosdy, its a museum but you can taste their wines in the cellar below the museum - very authentic experience ;)
