For the past 8 years, maybe longer, I have been living a rather unhealthy lifestyle with junk food and carbonated sodas being first choice above veggies and water.

I have decided that this routine and lifestyle should change, and for the past 7 days I have been avoiding soda drinks and junk food completely. I also started an average home cardio workout to get back in shape.
PS. Let me just state that this not a new years resolution thing. It's a serious decision that I made and I will be sticking to it.

My biggest problem however is the fact that I have not eaten breakfast during the week for the past 8 years+. Saturdays and Sundays might see me eating some bacon and eggs for breakfast but even that didn't happen so often.

I tried to narrow it down to why exactly I don't make time for breakfast and it came down to time for me. I am up and out of the house by 06h00 in the morning and when I arrive at the office there are usually a lot to do. When I find myself looking at the watch again it is 11h00 or 12h00 and I just grab a biggish lunch to compensate for not having breakfast.

I would like it if some of you can give me ideas for a quick breakfast on the run. I can promise you now that I will not be eating at home and it will have to be something I can prepare the previous night or at the office(we have a pretty useful kitchen).

A few things not even worth mentioning are: Oats, yoghurt and muesli.
Call me full of crap but I cannot get that stuff down my throat. Anything else is fair game.

I would like for it to be on the healthier side but it is not the most important point at this time. I just need to start getting back into the routine of eating breakfast.

I am already doing smaller portions and on a more regular basis. So after lunch, and sometimes before lunch, I have a fruit of some sort.

thanks

I am like you in the sense i hate oats, muesli and pretty much all that stuff.
Smoothies on the other hand actually taste pretty good.
you can blend em the night before, and drink it on your way to work. There are hundreds of smoothy recipes out there, you just need to find what works for you.
Bananas are usually good in them (and they are a relatively strong taste, so the thing is mainly banana like, which is cool), otherwise, find a fruit taste you like and use that

I quite like Bran-flakes, usually eat two bowls of it before heading off. One bowl doesn't really fill me up to lunchtime.

I used to eat grapes and strawberries but I felt like a hungry lion by 10am.

Bowl of All Bran (in whatever form you like it), add milk and yoghurt, then add nuts and at least 2 fruits you like (I have strawberries and peach slices) and then drizzle a bit of honey over it ........ if I have that at say 7am or 8am, I only start feeling snacky at about 1pm or 2pm and then the crackers or snackbread and a bit of cheese comes out.

6am - whey protein shake (ON)
8am - 1 bowl of all-bran with fat free milk or oats with sliced banana
10am - 1 apple

There are only foods that work and those that don't...

A slice or 2 of wholewheat bread (toasted or not) with honey

Fresh fruit e.g. papaya, banana, any berries

Boiled eggs

What are you trying to achieve with that diet? :)
That 1 apple seems a bit out of place and ON might be a bit expensive and unnecessary for his goals

Btw, the mocha cuppacino flavour >*

Something like a smoothie is very nice and can keep the hunger away for a long time especially if you have stuff like bananas in there for example.

Thank for all the advice guys
Smoothies sound nice but I have never made one. Can someone possibly post a recipe here with ingredients.
I am out of the office at the moment and replying from my phone. Want to get the ingredients now. Banana smoothies and mango smoothies sounds like nice options to me.

Alrighty then!!!

Made me a Banana smoothie last night and I just finished it now. Was pretty nice and also very easy to prepare.

I'm not exactly sure it is something I will be able to consume every morning for a very long time. Will have to work on some alternatives to mix it up a bit. Maybe do the All Bran thing every other morning. And some mornings throw in a wholewheat toast with a spread or honey.

Thanks for all the advice so far.

Health bread and a boiled egg with low fat cream cheese.
You can have your fruits during the day.

Thing is you can vary smoothies a lot. You can use different fruits, add bran, oats etc.

I'm lactose intolerant so I can't eat cereals with milk anymore, what I am planning to do is to eat muesli with yoghurt every morning. I suggest you do the same Apoc84.

Silly question but how can you eat yoghurt then as it is also made from milk?

On the topic of smoothies, anyone care to share a recipe so I can try one as well?

Mine was very simple.
250ml x Low fat Yohgurt
250ml x Low fat Milk
3 x Bananas
And I added 5ml of caramel essence to give it a slightly less banana taste.

Tonight I will be making the same smoothie but will also be adding 2 boiled eggs to my meal(not in the smoothie). I was still pretty hungry at lunch time. Think the smoothie was just a bit too liittle

Not as healthy but tastes great is a garlic & basil pesto bruschetta, spread bulgarian yoghurt like you would margarine, slice or two of warm black forest ham, topped with scrambled eggs and a few thin slivers of green petter as garnish.

Add some oats or bran to it and let it sit for like 3 mins, thickens up nicely ;)

Cornish pastie or chicken curry pie from Bread ahead and a 750ml can of Monster... that's my morning routine :)
