Breville/Sage Oracle Jet

@RedViking tell me why I shouldn't buy this?

For context I have a Saeco Pico Barista Deluxe fully automatic bean to cup right now and I bought it just after covid lock down when I realised I would be working from home for a foreseeable future and I didn't want to deal with the ritual of the mocha pot and/or French press every time I made coffee.

Now a few years later I want some of that manual life back to make real espresso....but I don't want to go all in doing every single thing by hand which is how I ended up here since it does the grinding and tamping for you and I just move it across to the group head and push the button and call it a day.

Of course there's a 15% discount on them until next Monday and I just got my bonus paid...so I had planned to do this later in the year but it's the cheapest right now it will be for a long time...even cheaper than if my mate brought it from the UK for me as I originally had planned.

Go!
What? Where? 15% off? I want one... Let me in on this!

TFG appear to be the official distributor now and Bash is pretty much their consumer portal for this stuff.

Yeah @home stocks a lot of Sage (old Breville) appliances and accessories now. You can get one of those naked portafilters as well. I have one (I bought mine on Temu though  )

Yeah @home = TFG = Bash.

But it's not "old" Breville at all it's just their European name and we seem to fall under that now suddenly.

Exact same products, but I'm guessing some kind of copyright dispute.

Yeah I was very impressed with one of my mate's who has one of the more manual ones and this new kid on the block ticks all my nerd boxes as well and the new screen makes all the difference because that felt like pure garbage on the Touch models.

I also have a Breville "Smart Oven" for the last couple of years which has been excellent all round so there is a degree of brand trust as well.

And I can "pay it forward" by giving my old machine to my brother and sister in law who just bought their first house, so there's a little bit of planetary alignment stuff going on.

Will annoy me that this one will be Sage branded, but it is what it is.

It is by no means cheap, but I've also looked at the internals on this thing and part of the reason going for the top end model is that I think it will last a decade or two happily.

Life is too short for **** coffee.
Personally I prefer something with less touch screens and gimmicks. The Breville Barista Express is a sweetspot for me.

Many reviews are also happy with it. When I got my barista express everyone told me it will be broken within a year or two, specially with the amount of coffees I make in a day. I think this year will be the 5th anniversary. Granted, I never planned to have it for so long and thought by now I will have a prosumer setup.... but at least I still have a machine!

Done!

And I can confirm you actually can Apple Pay for R32,299.15 if FNB doesn't stupidly get in the way and flags your OWN BLOODY CARD AND LINKED PAYMENT METHOD THAT NOBODY CAN STEAL as suspicious.

Now we wait.
Crazy that they cost this much. Even the entry level ones. Prices are insanely high in Africa.

Bought a mylo pro hand grinder last month and its dramatically improved the shots i can get out my aeropress. Was stressing about the R2k spent that i was being stupid so seeing this price makes me feel a bit better. DId nearly buy a R15k breville machine on special at @home but luckily chatgpt said i was overspending based on how liked my coffee. Can easily see how you go down the rabbit hole to get to the coffee you want.

Fok this thing better make obviously better and amazing coffee…because I already have buyers remorse depression.
