The fact that China and Russia is involved makes me feel uncomfortable. Would they have direct access to our internet traffic then? How easy would it be for them to filter traffic or block content? Or is this just another cable that will operate exactly the same as WACS for example?

Doesn't make sense. BRICS want to break away from the US-centric Internet, yet the cable goes to Miami.

This strikes me as a really stupid idea.

Who labelled the internet as "US Centric" ? The internet centres around densely populated areas and business/trade hubs that demand ever increasing capacity.

Not to mention a functioning government who don't do their best to stifle progress and innovation.

It's what the BRICS cable will be used for, they can proudly call it what they want, but that is the only way it'll do any good.

If they build the Brics cable, all it will be used for is to lower the latency to US based sites...
