Can someone plz help put my damn router (wifi Marconi) into bridge mode !
I've been to portforward.com but when i assign the connection a static ip it cannot connect to the net ! I've set the gateway to what it automatically assigns and also set to what I think is the isp (telkom - isp) dns is ?

anyways
thanks for any help !

 ugnnnn ... conflicting information

If you're visiting portforward.com then you're using your router as a router and not as a modem (aka bridge mode.)

If you're using your router in bridge mode, there's no need to visit portforward.com.

So, what do you ACTUALLY want to do ?

I don't know the Marconi routers, but most routers have an option in their setup (accessed either via http or telnet) to enable bridge mode. Have a look through the available options or .... *gasp* Read The Manual

ahhh oops ok sorry for the confusion I basically want to speed my downloading speed through a torrent prog & dc++ im not sure which will make this happen (bridge mode or port forwarding !)

anyways
thanks !

Either would work equally well.

Bridged involves initiating the pppoe connection directly from the PC - any firewall on the router falls away so you have to rely upon whatever software one you might have.

I found that I get better speeds in bridge mode than I got when I fowarded port's. As long as you have an up to date firewall installed and correctly configured it's safe to use bridge mode.
