The Telkom guy came round today and fixed my (10mb) line (wasn't getting full speed), and I discovered that my router for some reason was only getting 490kbps upload rate. The telkom guys test router was getting the full upload rate. I plugged an old router into the line and sure enough it had the full upload speed as well. So my main routers dsl capability seems to be compromised. I want to use my old router as a DSL "modem" and use my main router as the router because I still like its WiFi and QoS and how it can reserve IP addresses for certain devices. The question is how? Bridge mode doesnt seem to work, I'm not sure how to proceed from here. Thanks

Bridge mode won't work because the wireless router's PPPoE connection dials up over it's own modem. You will only be able to use bridged (pppoe-passthrough) functionality like that, if you use another router which dials the PPPoE connection over LAN (so just about any other router which is not a DSL modem combo as well). What you can do though, is let the old modem dial-up as normal, and then just plug it into your wireless router as if you were plugging it into a normal network switch. You will need to disable DHCP on the wireless router and enable it on the wired router, so that the wired router acts as the default gateway to all other devices on your network.

The bridging didn't work as I had hoped, and I do agree with what you said as the router refused to dial through anything but its own port.
Placing the router in bridge mode and doing the DHCP thing on each router, and connecting lan port 1 of each router worked. I tried it like that earlier but one of the routers must have been picky about me not using the 1st lan ports.

Thanks for the help
