The problem is that the inverter is limited to its rated power, if it's 3kW it does not matter if you pulling from the mains or solar, it has reached it's limit, the mains is there but you cannot use it to its full potential, think of it as a circuit breaker, it does not matter if you have 60 amps from the Mains supply, you just won't be able to pull off more than what the circuit breaker allows.
Absolutely, but my knowledge of this is actually limited. I initially got the setup as a means to have my TV and internet up as well as my house lit up during load shedding. What I did NOT realise, was how badly my house was wired and that the inverter does not bypass when Eskom power is supplied. A #KVa is more than enough for that.
Ideally I would have only liked my TV and lights on the inverter, but like I said, half my house is on one live, so in order to do so, I would need to rewire my house.
