I have done something similar, but can't remember how I did it. It was wired with lan cable.
My IP range from telkom was 10.0.0.2 and had to put in a secondary range like 192.168 0. 1 or something similar to connect to 2nd router. I then had to disconnect the first router totally and used the second router to boot and changed the ip address to the 196 range if that was the range I used in the first router. After that save switch of and reconnect the first router and and 2nd router and that worked. All these changes were made in the various router software.
So in the end I would have the IP range of for the default router and IP range 196 to extend the signal to second router.
