Hi

I posted this in the Britbox thread, but this might be a more relevant place.

I recently installed a PfSense, due to some strange issues I noticed.

My setup is fairly easy.
I created 4 vlan's, namely Home, Guests, IOT and Work.
The names are pretty much self-explanatory.

Everything works as normal, except Britbox. Netflix and Showmax still works as expected, but not Britbox.
The app opens and it shows the catalogue, but if I cast or just play on my phone, I just get a blank screen with an infinite loading spinning icon.

I can't see that anything is blocked on the firewall. I have rules set up to allow all IPv4 and IPv6 traffic to flow between this VLAN and the WAN port.

The traffic graph shows a spike in traffic when I press play, but it quickly stops and the traffic doesn't return. On the other hand, Netflix traffic arrives in bursts (probably due to buffering), but it at least repeats.

I don't know if there is a different port that should be forwarded to WAN, or if it is something else.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

What happens if you turn off wifi on your phone and try to play Britbox with your mobile data?

It then works fine. A bit slow, but we have crappy 4G coverage, but still fine. I also bypassed the PfSense and connected to the WiFi of my ISP's router, and then everything works as it should.

When going to the Britbox website on my mobile web browser and playing a video, it plays fine.
So there is definitely something weird with the Britbox app.

You really need to provide more detail about your configuration

What relevance do the VLANs have?
Is the device you are trying to play with on one of these VLANs or what?

PfSense has a live view for firewall traffic.
You can monitor what is being blocked there.

If you are just blind forwarding between VLANs, why have them?
It seems like you are using PfSense as a switch which is a bad idea for a lot of reasons.
How powerful is the computer you are running PfSense?
Forcing all your network traffic through PfSense will put a lot of load on the server.
4 x 1GBe will require quite a bit of processing power.
