Thought I'd create this to separate the comedy from drama and crime series.

BBC and other UK tv stations have a history of brilliant comedy, and many of the older ones are endlessly re-watchable -

Most of my favourites date back some time but if there are more recent ones of a similar quality would love to hear about them.

Fawlty Towers
Black Adder
Only Fools and Horses
Absolutely Fabulous
Bottom
In Sickness and in Health
Porridge
Open All Hours
Auf Weidersehn Pet
The Thin Blue Line
My Family
Coupling
Swiss Tony
Men Behaving Badly

The Young Ones

Tons of others I know but these I keep revisiting.

I also used to enjoy "Not the nine o' clock news". Rowan Atkinson used to be in it.
 
The best comedy to come out of the UK in many moons for me is Still Game. It is the number one rated show in Scotland of all time and if you can get the accents, it is fantastic. There's six series out there and a few specials.

Otherwise, good recent stuff and not mentioned yet but definitely worth a watch...

Most probably :D They do speak with a fairly mild Scottish accent but the local terms and slang might confuse a lot of folk.

But I'm making my way through Only Fools and Horses for the umpteenth time. I actually paid R2000 for the complete box set and have watched them all over and over again. I usually watch at least an episode at the start of any nights viewing.

Another one I forgot to mention is Phoenix Nights. Two series (6 in each) set in a Manchester night club with Peter Kay. I copied them from a mate at the weekend but I've watched them so many times I might have to hold onto them for another year or two :)

Did you download this? I never looked because I thought it was too obscure to find, but I was talking about it with a Tunisian guy last week who loved it when he saw it ages ago. I'm at work just now and can't check the usual suspects, but a torrent would be excellent :)

In my top 3 along with Black Adder and Fawlty Towers.

There's a rhino loose in the city....

Whatever you do avoid the latest series with David Jason - The Royal Bodyguard is just dreadful.

Do you know The IT Crowd Dave? Out of all of the ones on the thread so far and you've listed some crackers, I'd have thought this would be the favourite on an IT website.

'Have you switched it off and on yet?' Brilliantly funny and fairly original. Moss is just so classic he cracks me up when he doesn't even speak.

It's one that I've just overlooked for no particular reason.

I shall however rectify that and give it a viewing.

Ps: Found some - it's a pity a lot of the UK stuff is not available in 720p...

Oof, just had a look at IMDb. 3.4/10 is very poor for a David Jason show. I hadn't heard of it before now and I think I'll just keep it that way :whistle:
