POLITICALLY-correct penpushers have banned calling yobs "youths" - so as not to hurt their feelings.
Government bureaucrats insist they must be called "young persons" instead.

The edict is the latest in a long series of potty language changes enforced by petty officials.

Previous PC language changes include substituting "winterval" for Christmas, so not to upset non-Christians, and saying "outcast" instead of "black sheep", in case it is seen as racist.

Baa Baa Outcast and a happy winterval to you.

Still, it's not as bad as ' learners'.

While I agree that it is PC gone overboard, The Suns article is, not for the first time, slightly misleading.

The word 'youth' has been banned from guidelines on the treatment of criminals aged 16 and 17. Offenders of this agegroup will now be referred to as 'young persons' in the latest code for prosecutors.

The code for prosecutors on issuing Youth Conditional Cautions to 16- and 17-year- olds has been rewritten and I think it is more to distinguish between them, minors under the age of 16 and adults rather than anything else.

Still madness though.;)

Um How did the ugly term "Learner" come about? I still shout "STUDENT" at every news report. IE Why? Not by whom I think it was the education department that changed it.

How can you believe anything The Sun publishes, for God's sake?

Yeah - this "lenner" is a miserable term. What's wrong with student.
