Worse than German wine, didn't think it was possible.

There's a reason their shelves are 90% imported wines. Walk into a supermarket like Sainsburys and you'll see quite a few local wines on the shelf.

Just thought I would give it a try, thinking "how bad could it be?".
Well.....

Yes, there is a reason. The general UK climate is not suited to produce wine. They, however, do have good wines, but do a read up as they do have rules on what may or may not be wine. Currently they want to compete against the world in the sparkling category. Oh and, more than 90% is imported wine.

Funny, there was a news article on BBC this morning about the rising popularity and quality of English wine.

I'm sure the one you tasted was horrible, but the image is also horrible and we all have a preconception about it, but I bet there are some nice ones also.

And like a documentary I watched about South African wine in China, it has a terrible reputation and the people doing the taste tests were like "yuk, gross" etc.

I was doing a shop yesterday at Tesco and the choices available are amazing. I thing we paid a fiver for a nice cote du rhone.
