Can one use MTN to surf the net from outside SA?

yeah if you have roaming enabled on your contract.

You might want to also check what the roaming data tarrifs are in the country/countries you'll be visiting.

i've tried to find the roaming data tariff... but not seen it yet on mtn website, but not to worry. seems like my country of intended visit ain't covered for data anyway.
Will just buy a local sim card and package there. hopefully that sim card will work on my huawei modem.

Yeah, but on some networks overseas, you cant get data on prepaid - dunno why - check first.

Also with roaming overseas data rates are HUGE, like even as much as R100 per Mb - check as much as you can before going.
