Not entirely sure which section it belongs, so move if needed.

Basically I'm in a situation without internet. The 3 mates I live with all use 3G sticks, so getting a telkom line is not an option for them and I can't cover the cost myself. So basically I'm looking into alternatives. Currently, there's a WiFi hotspot, RedButton, that I can access, which I thought might be a good idea. Its 30c per MB and prepaid, so might not be a bad option.

Anyone know if this is a decent option if all I need is maybe 300MB in a month? Would 3G be a better option (cheaper being the key)? Currently if I desperately need something, I hook my BB up and use that, but I'm worried about costs and Vodacoms newly branded website doesn't provide me with data charges, so I'm paranoid about using it.

Also, is RedButton any good? Speed wise and service wise?

Thanks, Sysem

30c/MB is expensive. If you choose this option, you will pay R90/month for the 300MB. Why not get the Cell C 2GB speedstick promotion? Then you will pay R150/month (contract) or R125/month (prepaid, R1500 once off) for 2GB data. Just make sure that coverage is good in your area beforehand.

125 per month is good, would go for that in a heart beat. But I can't fork out the 1500, and 150 per month every month is a bit steep for me. Then again, maybe its not? Better look at my budget. I know 30c is bad, but that way I can run off and buy 50MB if I need to and I'm not tied down to 2GB
